STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

            Mrs. Sandra Slavick, Middle School Principal, has announced the names of the students who were nominated and selected as Weatherly Area Middle School “Students of the Month” for September.  The award is based on academic achievement, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, and service to school and community.

            Joshua Naegele, son of Jennifer Cooper, Weatherly and Steven Naegele, Ridley Park, was selected as the sixth grade Student of the Month.  He is in Reading Game Club, Computer Club, Hands on Math Club, and Reading/AR Test Club.  In fifth grade he graduated from the D.A.R.E. Program.  Joshua helps his neighbor with chores around their house.  Joshua is a member of Zions Lutheran Church where he is an acolyte and attends Sunday school.

            Colleen Popko, daughter of Maryellen Esposito, Weatherly, is the seventh grade Student of the Month.  She is a member of the middle school band and chorus and is homeroom representative for student council.  Colleen is a member of the Pennsylvania Theatre of Performing Arts at the Hazleton Philharmonic.

            Joshua Reiner, son of Lori and Craig Reiner, Weatherly, is the eighth grade Student of the Month.   He is a member of the Weatherly Jr. High Basketball Team.  Joshua is a member of the White Haven Boy Scouts and the Biddy All Star Basketball Team.  He volunteers for the American Cancer Society and the Easter Seals.  He also shovels snow and cuts grass for his elderly neighbors.  Joshua is a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where he is an acolyte, usher, volunteers at fundraisers, and assists at Lenten suppers.
